Under what circumstances would you need to go through Clearing?

As we previously said, not everyone is lucky enough to get a place at their first or even second choice university. All, however, is not lost. Clearing can give you a second chance at finding a fantastic university to study at.

You can apply for a course using clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course you are looking at still has places. You’ll need to do this between 5th July – 19 October 2021.

You’re able to use clearing if one or more of the following reasons apply:

  • you’re applying for a place after 30 June
  • you received no offers from your first choice universities, or decided not to accept the ones you received
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • you've already paid the multiple choice application fee of £26
  • you’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in UCAS Track

It’s important to remember that going through clearing shouldn’t feel like failure. See it more as another chance at starting the next part of your educational journey.

What’s meant to be is meant to be - stay positive and optimistic, and choose wisely!
